by ICpEP.se-UC Chapter Officer

UC-CEA Computer Engineering students proudly represented the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in the National Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines (ICpEP) CpE Challenge and Student Congress held at National University Fairview, Quezon City on May 8-9, 2025.

This year’s event, themed “BYTE 2025: Building Young Tech Experts for a Smarter Future,” brought together aspiring Computer Engineering students from across the country for a dynamic two-day competition, fostering learning, innovation, and collaboration.

Guided by their dedicated coaches, Mr. Denmel Paul Saavedra, Ms.Karen Allen Suarez, and Mrs. Maria Theresa Payumo, UC’s delegation consisted of 14 students who secured their spots after excelling in the Regional ICpEP CpE Challenge. Their talents shone across various competition categories:

  • Quiz Bowl – Kensper Mark Jose, John Christian Angaga, Kristoffer Mina
  • Breadboarding – Darlene Jae Bueno, Van Joseff Hero Facun, John Louie Rosana
  • Programming (C, C++, Java, Python) – Jamasia Elopre, Zhyre Abastilla, Sebastian Villa, Jalian Evangelista
  • Robothon Pitching – Jibeon Evangelista, Kensper Mark Jose, Jamasia Elopre

UC’s team delivered an exceptional performance, securing 4th runner-up positions in Breadboarding and Quiz Bowl, showcasing their technical expertise and problem-solving skills at the national level.

In addition to the competitions, the congress also marked a historic milestone with the first-ever national election for the ICpEP Student Edition (ICpEP.se). The election consisted of representatives from each region casting their votes for the organization’s national officers. Representing CAR, Jamasia Elopre, the current president of ICpEP.se-CAR and ICpEP.se-UC Chapter, was elected as one of the pioneering executive officers for ICpEP.se National, assuming the role of Vice President of Internal Affairs.

The event reinforced the significance of collaboration, technical excellence, and leadership in shaping the future of Computer Engineering in the country. With UC students proving their mettle, the region celebrates their achievements and looks forward to an even brighter future for tech innovators in CAR. Through competitions such as the Quiz Bowl, Breadboarding, Programming, and Robothon Pitching, students are not only enhancing their technical competencies but also actively supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). This milestone reflects their dedication to becoming future-ready professionals capable of driving smart, sustainable progress in society.

Congratulations to the UC delegation on their well-earned success!
