The academic dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) – Engr. Dexter Apnoyan, and the Director of the Institute of Teaching and Learning and faculty member of the Computer Engineering Department – Engr. Dionisio R. Tandingan,, actively supported and joined the Launching of Greenovation Projects and Initiatives of the University of the Cordilleras held on July 1, 2025 @10:00 AM at the UC Gymnasium.
Themed “Greenovation: Towards an Eco-Friendly UC,” the event brought together partners from Evangel Sales, DENR-CAR, CEPMO, and Zero Waste Management Inc., and featured interactive booths, eco-products, and do-it-yourself sustainability items. The presence and support from the CEA leaders added meaningful momentum to the launch and reflected the college’s growing commitment to environmental-friendly and sustainability.
As the academic managers guiding the next generation of engineers and architects, Dean Apnoyan and Dir. Their participation signals a clear message: UC’s College of Engineering and Architecture is not only embracing sustainability in theory but also actively leading its implementation through curriculum development, community engagement, and institutional policy.
By stepping forward at this event, they reaffirmed their commitment to developing environmentally responsible professionals and driving the university’s broader vision of becoming a zero-waste campus. Their leadership strengthens UC’s environmental initiatives and empowers both faculty and students to take part in creating innovative, green solutions for the future and aligns with the college’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly, SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities on promoting eco-friendly practices, green design, and sustainable architecture, the initiative supports the development of inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable urban environments, SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production with features like eco-products, interactive booths, and DIY sustainability efforts, the event encourages responsible use of resources and waste reduction and SDG 13 – Climate Action with the event’s goal to raise awareness and initiate action within the academic community to combat climate change through sustainable engineering and environmental design.
The Greenovation launch marks a significant step in UC’s journey toward sustainability — a journey that will be led, in no small part, by the visionary efforts of its engineering and architecture leaders.
