UC-CMO Supports Local Climate and Clean-Energy Policy Work in Baguio City

The University of the Cordilleras continues to play an active role in local climate and clean-energy planning through its partnership with the City Government of Baguio. Faculty members and students from UC took part in the BINGO Scorecard Eskwela Challenge, an initiative of the City Environment and Parks Management Office and its Climate Change Division. The activity focuses on mainstreaming climate programs, improving local adaptation measures, and encouraging low-carbon solutions in transportation, energy use, and disaster readiness.

As one of the host institutions and academic partners, UC helped provide research inputs, data validation, and technical support for community-based climate actions. The program also included policy discussions, planning workshops, and presentations of local strategies to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency in public facilities and transport systems.

The participation of the University of the Cordilleras strengthens the city’s efforts by linking local government planning with academic research and evidence-based approaches. This collaboration shows how universities can guide and support policy development that promotes clean energy and climate-responsive programs.

UC will continue working with government offices and community groups to advance sustainable practices and create practical solutions for a cleaner and more resilient Baguio City.
